NNMC recognized as a top public school by U.S. News & World Report

Northern also earns rating as a top performer for social mobility

Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) has earned recognition in three categories in the U.S. News & World Report  2027 edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings. In the Regional Colleges West category, Northern is tied for #8 in Top Public Schools and tied for #19 for Top Performers on Social Mobility. Northern also tied for #31 among 73 institutions in the Regional Colleges West category.

The U.S. News Best Colleges rankings are a data-driven comparison of more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities, which uses up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success. Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.

"Northern New Mexico College provides a world class educational experience to our students, as we support them in the pursuit of their dreams," said NNMC President Hector Balderas. "This recognition is a testament to the strong work of our faculty and staff, the quality of education and student support they provide, and the potential of our students and community to shine among our peers across the globe."

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings, which date back to 1983, offer detailed information of the institutions and data on factors such as graduation rates and post-graduate earnings.

“Higher education is an investment in a student’s future, and we’re proud to recognize the institutions that continue to raise the bar for academic excellence," said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for education at U.S. News. “The Best Colleges rankings celebrate schools that demonstrate outstanding commitment to student success, providing prospective families with a roadmap to discover high-performing institutions that align with their specific academic, career and personal goals.”
